Cosmetics Manufacturing

Cosmetics Manufacturing: production orders and BOM, stock and warehouse, quality and reporting.

Challenges

  • The product information file (PIF) is scattered, so the documents cannot be gathered during an inspection.
  • The INCI ingredient list is not kept on the product card, so every label is prepared by hand.
  • The batch manufacturing record and the expiry/PAO tracking run separately.
  • In contract filling, the semi-finished goods sent out cannot be reconciled with the finished goods returned.

Workflows

From formula to batch

  1. The formula is defined together with its INCI ingredient list.
  2. A production order is opened with the batch size and the mixing parameters.
  3. The finished product is received into stock with its own batch code, expiry date and PAO value.

From contract filling to dispatch

  1. The semi-finished goods are sent to the filling plant on a contract work order.
  2. The returned finished quantity and the waste are reconciled against the intermediate stock.
  3. The label is printed with the INCI and batch details, then the product ships.

FAQ

Can I keep the product information file in one place?

Yes — formula, test and label documents are linked to the product record, so an inspection is served from a single file.

Can I carry the INCI list through to the label?

Yes — the ingredient list is held on the product card and used on the label output.

Can I track expiry dates and PAO?

Yes — every batch enters stock with its own expiry date and PAO value, and approaching dates are reported.

Can I reconcile contract filling?

Yes — the semi-finished goods sent out and the finished goods returned are compared in the intermediate stock, and waste is shown separately.

Can I trace a batch backwards?

Yes — the chain is built from the raw-material lot all the way to dispatch.
