Spare Parts

Spare parts: OEM/cross reference, barcode, marketplace.

Challenges

  • The same part has different OEM, aftermarket and shelf codes, so it cannot be found when a customer asks.
  • Which vehicle a part fits lives only in someone's head, not in any list.
  • Wrong parts get sold and returned, and the return process is off the books.
  • With tens of thousands of SKUs, picking is slow because shelf locations are unknown.

Workflows

Part lookup and sale

  1. The item is set up with its OEM code, cross-reference codes and shelf location.
  2. Vehicle make, model and year compatibility is recorded on the item record.
  3. At the point of sale the search runs by code or by vehicle.
  4. The shipment and invoice are issued.

Returns and exchanges

  1. The return is opened against the original sales document.
  2. The part is received back and stock is restored.
  3. The return reason (wrong part / damaged) is recorded.

Can I see dead stock?

Yes — items with no movement are listed in the dead stock report.

Can I track warranty part returns?
