Flour Mill

Flour mill: wheat procurement, lot and batch traceability, yield and cost control, silo inventory, and dispatch.

Challenges

  • Yield and loss on wheat intake are calculated by hand.
  • Flour grades (type 550, 650…) cannot be tracked as distinct products.
  • Analysis results (protein, moisture) are not linked to production.
  • The wheat blend (grist) ratio is not recorded, so the same flour type varies from batch to batch.

Workflows

From wheat to flour

  1. Wheat intake enters stock with its lot and analysis values.
  2. A milling production order is opened.
  3. The resulting flour grades and bran are received into stock as co-products.
  4. Yield and cost are calculated.

Quality records

  1. The incoming analysis (protein / moisture) is recorded.
  2. A post-production analysis is performed.
  3. If there is a non-conformance, a record is raised.

From wheat blend to shipment

  1. Wheat batches are linked to the blend recipe with their analysis values.
  2. After milling, flour type and by-product quantities are recorded.
  3. Bagged and bulk shipments are posted to the delivery note with their batch number.

FAQ

Can I calculate the extraction yield?

Yes. Input and output quantities are held on the production order, and the yield is reported.

Can I receive the co-product (bran) into stock?

Yes — the co-product output is defined on the production order.

Can I store analysis values?

Yes — they are held per lot via the quality-control form.

Can I manage flour types as variants?

Yes — grades such as type 550/650 are held as variants under a single product.

Can I see cost per tonne?

Yes — unit cost is computed from the input and output quantities on the production order.

Can I fix the blend ratio with a recipe?

Yes — the wheat blend ratio is defined in the recipe; every batch is produced to it and deviations are reported.
